Integrated Care for Body, Mind & Spirit

I started Orange County Health Psychologists with three very distinct goals in mind.

  • To create and build a patient centric practice with like-minded individuals who are committed and passionate about providing the best possible care to those we serve.
  • To mentor and support providers in developing competencies and specialties in behavioral health with the goal of truly practicing from a biopsychosocial-spiritual model.
  • To foster a professional work environment that is personally and professionally rewarding for all; one where we learn together, serve together, and laugh and love together.

I hope you will reach out to us if our vision for the future is through a similar lens. There are many opportunities here for those who share our values and goals.

I could have worked at many other places and chose this practice based upon a lot of research and going off my instincts, which it turns out were spot on! Orange County Health Psychologists is a fantastic top-notch workplace with a high degree of professional ethics and integrity. There is a higher pay structure than other private practice settings, with a flexible schedule, great work/life balance, and growth potential. The founder is extremely supportive and my colleagues are incredibly talented and inspiring. I am extremely grateful to work here and every interaction I have with my boss, colleagues and office staff is totally positive. I love working in mental health but it really takes the stress down working in such a supportive, solid private practice and being well-compensated. In addition, the administrative staff are also top notch--they and the owner really make the 'business side' of things like notes/billing etc. extremely easy to do. OCHP has delivered everything they promised!

I made the wonderful decision to join Orange County Health Psychologists with the hope and intention to find a space that prioritizes patient care alongside provider success. From the time I first met with Dr. Kleppe I had a strong feeling this would be my new professional home for career growth and fulfillment. In my time with OCHP, I have felt consistent support, respect, and encouragement from everyone including my fellow clinicians and the admin team. As I’ve had the opportunity to support my patients with finding inner peace and comfort, I too have found these gifts and am so grateful for being a part of this team!

Since 2016, I have had the chance to be a part of OCHP and witnessed its growth and evolution from what was a beautiful small practice to an evolved larger practice. It is a professional environment with hard working providers with an eye toward excellence. I find it to be a work environment that encourages professional development and growth in its providers. It is a hybrid (in person and telehealth) practice that has taken steps to help remote providers have opportunities for connection. It continues to evolve. If you have an interest in health psychology and want to be a part of a growing practice, I encourage you to consider OCHP.

Literature Review and Research Intern

As clinical health psychologists, we value the integration of literature review and research into the formulation of our treatment plans. For example, if we are treating a patient for depression and anxiety, and the patient has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, our providers will access the research on the connection between EDS and depression/anxiety to better ensure quality patient care. Or, if the patient presents with MS and complains of memory problems, we strive to better understand the connection between MS and memory impairment rather than attributing it to a symptom of depression. An intern can assist the clinical health psychologist in identifying journal articles or resources that lead to a better understanding of the patient’s symptoms, enhance patient care and ensure better outcomes.

We are also developing fellowship training programs in different areas of medicine such as psycho-oncology, cardiac psychology, and psychogastroenterology. A research intern in our fellowship training program assists in identifying training resources and developing training materials.

An intern might also assist providers in researching health care resources for a patient that are congruent with that patient’s medical literacy level, thereby decreasing anxiety surrounding their condition and optimizing opportunities for wellness.

Marketing Intern

Interns also assist in developing psychoeducational materials for enhanced patient care and to better integrate mind, body, and spiritual interventions. These materials can include not only written medium but also social media or video applications.

Qualifications

Current enrollment in an APA accredited clinical psychology doctoral program with a preference given to students enrolled in a health psychology track. For some assignments, we will consider master’s level psychology students.

Hours: Flexible – minimum of 10 hours per month. Location can be in office or remote.
