Erica Lehman, PsyD
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Erica Lehman is a licensed psychologist with specialized experience in Geropsychology. She has a passion for supporting and empowering her clients toward health using a collaborative approach where the client is an active part of the healing process. Dr. Lehman takes a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to therapy, meaning that she considers how factors such as physical health, life stage, medications, level of social support, access to resources, and spiritual beliefs impact one's emotional well-being and day to day functioning. She works to quickly identify with the client the problem that brought him/her into therapy and to create measurable goals toward healing using evidence based approaches.
Education & Experience
Dr. Lehman holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois where she received specific training in integrating Christian faith into therapy. While not all clients choose to make faith integration a part of their therapy, this integrative approach is present in foundational beliefs that all individuals have intrinsic value and purpose, that we are not meant to face life's challenges alone, and that healing will come more readily when the spiritual self is engaged as a part of the process.
While at Wheaton, Dr. Lehman developed clinical interests in both geropsychology and women's mental health. She completed her dissertation at a Federally Qualified Health Center looking at how a group prenatal care program where moms are empowered to take a greater role in their health care, and meet regularly with other expectant mothers, impacts mood during pregnancy and postpartum.
Dr. Lehman aims to be a life-long learner, both in a desire to provide quality care for patients, but also understanding that the therapy relationship is one in which the therapist also grows from being a part of the client's healing process. She values authenticity, respect and compassion, which clients experience while meeting with her.
