Mali Workman, LMFT
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
Mali Workman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who views growth as a lifelong process that evolves across every stage of life. She works with children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate developmental transitions, significant life changes, and psychological difficulties. Her work is grounded in the recognition that periods of disruption and adversity, while often difficult, can also create meaningful opportunities for reflection, growth, and transformation.
Mali brings extensive experience supporting parents as they navigate the complexities of raising children and sustaining healthy family relationships. Through her compassionate approach, she guides parents in developing a deeper understanding of their children’s internal worlds, recognizing patterns within family dynamics, and responding to challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
At the foundation of her clinical practice is a collaborative, nonjudgmental stance grounded in genuine curiosity about each individual and the experiences, relationships, and narratives that have shaped their development. Her perspective is both holistic and systemic, considering the individual within the context of their family, culture, relationships, and broader community.
Mali is deeply committed to social justice, equity, and accessibility. She brings particular attention to the ways culture and language shape identity, relationships, experiences, and psychological well-being. Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, she is also currently learning French. Her multilingual and multicultural perspective informs her commitment to providing care that is culturally responsive, inclusive, and attentive to the complexity of each person’s lived experience.
Education & Experience
Mali holds a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to private practice, she worked across community mental health, school-based programs, and outpatient psychiatry settings.
Mali utilizes evidence-based, trauma-informed, and multiculturally-affirming therapeutic interventions, integrating principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, tailoring treatment to the needs, strengths, and goals of each client. Ultimately, Mali’s work is centered on helping individuals and families expand their capacity to navigate adversity, deepen meaningful connections, and cultivate a greater sense of agency, resilience, and well-being throughout the course of their lives.
